Affiliate Grant Support Framework

Purpose of the Grant Program

Rock Steady Boxing Headquarters (RSB HQ) is committed to supporting its affiliates in advancing the mission to empower individuals with Parkinson’s disease through specialized fitness programs. To that end, RSB offers grants for initiatives that directly align with and support the mission of Rock Steady Boxing.

Eligibility Requirements

Grants are available to Rock Steady Boxing affiliates, regardless of their for-profit or nonprofit status, as long as the requested funding is used for purposes that:

  • Directly support individuals with Parkinson’s disease.
  • Enhance the quality and accessibility of the RSB programs offered by the affiliate.
  • Promote the mission and goals of RSB as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Acceptable Use of Grant Funds

Affiliates may apply for funding to support:

  1. Equipment: Purchase or upgrade of boxing bags, gloves, mats, or other materials used in RSB-approved fitness programs.
  2. Training: Scholarships for coaches and staff to attend RSB-certified training programs, workshops, or conferences like CoachCon.
  3. Program Expansion and Scholarships: Initiatives that increase accessibility for participants, such as subsidizing class fees, transportation assistance, or outreach efforts to underserved communities.
  4. Community Outreach: Marketing or educational events to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease and RSB’s services.

Grant Funding Limits

  • Affiliates may apply for funding ranging from $500 to $5,000 per grant cycle.
  • The specific amount awarded will depend on the proposed project’s scope, alignment with RSB’s mission, and available funding.

Application Process

  1. Submit a Proposal: Affiliates must submit a detailed proposal outlining:
    • The purpose of the funding request.
    • How the grant will support the mission of RSB.
    • Specific items or programs to be funded.
    • A detailed budgets to justify the requested amount.
    • Proposed timeframe of implementation.
  2. Demonstrate Alignment: Affiliates must show that the requested funds will be used in ways that directly benefit individuals with Parkinson’s disease and align with the goals of RSB HQ.
  3. Provide Supporting Documents: Include information about the affiliate’s current programs, number of participants, and evidence of program impact (e.g., testimonials or data).

Grant Review and Approval

  • Applications will be reviewed by a grant committee at RSB HQ.
  • Decisions will be based on alignment with RSB’s mission, potential impact, and available funds.
  • Grants are awarded on a competitive basis, subject to funding availability.

Reporting Requirements

Grantees are required to submit a brief report within 12 months of receiving funding, detailing:

  • How the funds were used.
  • The outcomes achieved.
  • Any feedback or lessons learned.

Key Notes for Legal Compliance

  • Affiliates must ensure that grant-funded initiatives exclusively support the mission of RSB and do not benefit unrelated activities.
  • Grants cannot be used for general operational expenses unrelated to Parkinson’s programming.
  • Any unused or misallocated funds must be returned to Rock Steady Boxing HQ.
  • Completion of program needs to be within 12 months of the issue date. Extensions must be submitted and approved if outside the time frame.
  • This is a one-time grant which does not automatically renew. Any recurrence of funding will be through a new application cycle.
