Training Camp (the boxing term for “seminar”) provides an overview of Parkinson’s disease, beginning boxing techniques and adaptations of our fitness program designed to combat 23 common symptoms of PD. The course includes classroom instruction, hands-on training and a workout in the gym with Rock Steady boxers.
This experience in the gym bridges the gap between theory and practice, and provides examples of how to conduct a class, scale for any ability level.
Training Camp provides knowledge and understanding of the special challenges of working with the PD population and provides attendees a foundational education that prepares them to begin training people with PD in their home community.
Rock Steady Boxing focuses on the people we serve, not the building or organization hosting the program. Successful Rock Steady programs are being presented in boxing gyms, senior centers, hospital rehabilitation centers, private clubs, garages and anywhere a heavy bag is available.
