Join Rock Steady Boxing at the World Parkinson Congress
Sept. 21-24, 2016
Everyone in the community touched by Parkinson’s, whether a patient, researcher, family member, clinician, nurse, rehab specialist, or just interested person, is welcome to attend the World Parkinson Congress (WPC).
RSB will be there as an exhibitor showcasing our new eLearning Certification and providing a hands-on opportunity to put on the gloves and “fight back.” Title Boxing is providing a heavy bag stand, including 12 heavy bags, to give everyone an opportunity to experience Rock Steady Boxing. Trainers will be on hand to discuss the principles of boxing and PD. RSB also expects to present a “Renewal Room” workshop.
The first WPC was held in 2006 and in 2013 , as an exhibitor, Rock Steady took the conference by storm at the third WPC in Montreal, Canada. Rock Steady’s booth, with stanchions and ropes to simulate a boxing ring, stood out because of the enthusiasm and hope generated by live demonstrations. Coaches Kristy and Christine invited conference attendees into the ring to give boxing a try. Many of our local Indianapolis boxers attended the WPC and participated in the demonstrations. A researcher who observed the excitement in the ring observed, “Of everyone in this exhibit hall, Rock Steady is the only one doing something for people today.”
The triennial World Parkinson Congress is an international forum for dialogue on the latest scientific discoveries, medical practices and caregiver initiatives related to Parkinson’s disease. By bringing physicians, neuroscientists, broad range of other health professionals, care partners, and people with Parkinson’s together under one roof, the goal is to expedite the discovery of a cure and cultivate best treatment practices for this devastating disease.
