Week of June 6

This week we are working on getting 2 feet off the ground! Most fighters start classes unable to (or believing they are unable to) hop, jump or catch some air. Some are shocked when then find they can.
Jumping takes strength, coordination and body confidence. We will practice this week! As usual-if someone has a joint that screams at them if they jump-modify.
So…All things Jumping! We know that boxers are big on jump roping for many reasons. But at Rock Steady, we don’t necessarily need to jump a rope to get the benefits of jumping.
This week, let’s focus on different ways to put some air under our feet via assisted jumps, box jumps, step-up jumps, squats jumps, hurdle jumps, lateral jumps, globe jumps, plyometrics, one-legged hops, rope, and more.
We don’t expect the entire class to revolve around jumping (that would be a LOT of jumping!) but try and dedicate a portion of the workout to explaining the benefits of jumping and give the jumping drills a shot!
