Why become a Certified Rock Steady Head Coach?

If your goal as an exercise or therapy professional is to help the Parkinson’s community live more enriched and active lives, then Rock Steady Boxing is an excellent addition to your offerings. RSB techniques are designed to boost confidence, reduce the fear of falling, improve daily functioning, and educate clients on safe physical activity.

Who can become a Rock Steady Certified Head Coach?

Prerequisites: Applicants must hold ONE of the following: A medical professional license, NCCA-approved Fitness Professional certification, or a degree in an Exercise Science-related field of study.

How to become an RSB Head Coach

  • Establish a RSB Affiliate location. Rock Steady Group fitness classes can only be delivered at RSB Affiliate locations.
  • Become Certified as an RSB Head Coach

Steps to Become an Affiliate

  1. Submit a new affiliate application:
    Complete and submit your application to start the process of becoming a RSB Affiliate.

  2. Sign the RSB Agreement form:
    Upon approval of application,, sign the RSB agreement form to formalize your commitment to our program.

  3. Complete Head Coach certification:
    Head Coaches must complete approximately 11 hours of online coursework followed by  attending the in-person training over 2 days.

  4. Start Offering Rock Steady Boxing Classes:
    Begin offering Rock Steady Classes in your community. Affiliates gain access to ongoing support and a network of RSB professionals worldwide.

Clinician Training Camp

Clinician Training Camp is for medical providers (mainly therapy and rehabilitation professionals) to learn to deliver the RSB method 1:1 in a clinical setting. Ideally, an RSB Clinician should work in collaboration with their local RSB gym to deliver the best care using the RSB method. This course is delivered in a combined online and in-person format.

  • Pre-requisites: Current license in a medical or rehabilitation profession.
  • Training: 8-hour online course, 2 days in-person skills lab.
  • Cost: $899 for a three-year certification, with recertification by online course and exam after three years.
  • Note: Clinician training does not allow you to host group classes, use RSB marketing materials/trademarks, or any benefits reserved for our Affiliate programs.

Head Coach Training Camp

Head Coach Training Camp prepares fitness and medical professionals to deliver Rock Steady Boxing in a group fitness setting. This course is an essential first step in developing a new Rock Steady Affiliate location. To become a new Rock Steady Head Coach, one must complete online and in-person training. This person is responsible for leading classes and ensuring the competency of all other coaches within the affiliate location. A location can have more than one head coach.

  • Pre-requisites: Medical professional license, NCCA certified fitness professional or equivalent, or a degree in an exercise science-related field of study.
  • Training: 10-hour online training prior to attending a two-day in-person skills camp.
  • Cost: $899 for a new affiliate, includes Affiliate Training Camp; $699 for a new head coach at an existing affiliate, does not include Affiliate Training Camp.
  • Recertification (Online) : $75 every two (2) years.  

Coach Training Camp

Coach Training Camp prepares fitness and medical professionals to deliver Rock Steady Boxing in a group fitness setting. A coach is able to lead classes independently. A coach is required to complete the online training. Skills competencies are attained through the affiliate’s head coach.

  • Pre-requisites: Medical professional license, NCCA certified fitness professional or equivalent, or a degree in an exercise science-related field of study. Associated with an existing affiliate location.
  • Training: 10-hour online training.
  • Cost: $499 for a new coach at an existing affiliate location.
  • Recertification (Online) :  $75 every two (2) years. 

Assistant Coach Training Camp

This camp trains Assistant Rock Steady Boxing Coaches to assist a Rock Steady Head Coach in delivering a Rock Steady group class. At the completion of this course, the learner will be prepared to assist in the delivery of RSB class. Completion of this course does not prepare the learner to independently lead a Rock Steady Class.

  • Pre-requisites: Associated with an existing affiliate location, no degree or certification is required.
  • Training: 3-hour online training.
  • Cost: $90 for assistant coaches at an existing location.

Volunteer Training Camp

Volunteer Training Camp is for those essential individuals that volunteer to support their local RSB location. This course is an introduction to the RSB history, method, and philosophy, and also covers some essential safety information for volunteers. This training is free for volunteers.

  • Pre-requisites: Associated with an existing affiliate location, no degree or certification is required.
  • Training: 1.5-hour online training.
  • Cost: Free for volunteers at existing locations.
